Oura Ring FAQ: App, Sync, Export, Membership, and Data Questions
If your Oura app will not install, your ring will not sync, your data is missing, or your exported CSV files are hard to read, this FAQ collects the most common questions in one place.
ExportVitals is an unofficial local browser viewer for downloaded wearable export files, including Oura export ZIP files. It does not pair with your ring, sync new Bluetooth data, replace the Oura app, or bypass Oura account, membership, API, or export rules.
Quick answer
- The Oura app currently requires a supported iPhone or Android phone.
- Android users currently need Android 10 or newer with Google Play services, and the device must support Bluetooth 4.0.
- A Windows PC or Mac cannot normally replace the Oura mobile app for Bluetooth syncing.
- If an Oura Ring has not synced for several days, some unsynced data may be lost.
- Oura data can be exported through Oura’s official account/export tools.
- ExportVitals helps after you already have a downloaded Oura export ZIP.

App compatibility and setup
Why won’t the Oura app install on my Android phone?
If Google Play says the Oura app is not compatible with your device, the most common reason is that the phone does not meet the current app requirements. Oura currently lists Android 10 or newer, Google Play services, and Bluetooth 4.0 support as Android requirements.
Updating the Google Play Store or Google Play services may help with some app problems, but it does not upgrade an Android 9 phone to Android 10. If the phone’s operating system is too old, Google Play may continue to block installation.
What Android version does the Oura app require?
Oura currently lists Android 10 or newer with Google Play services as the Android requirement for the Oura app. The phone must also support Bluetooth 4.0.
This requirement can change, so the official Oura support page should be treated as the source of truth for final compatibility decisions.
Can updating Google Play fix an unsupported Android phone?
Usually, no. Updating Google Play or Google Play services can update the app store and services layer, but it does not change the phone’s Android operating system version.

Do I need Oura Membership to use the ring?
Oura Membership unlocks the full app experience, detailed insights, and many features. Without an active membership, Oura says users have a more limited experience.
ExportVitals-specific questions
Does ExportVitals upload my Oura ZIP?
No. ExportVitals is designed around a local-first workflow. Your supported export file is parsed in your browser rather than uploaded to an ExportVitals server for parsing.
Can ExportVitals sync directly with my Oura Ring?
No. ExportVitals does not pair with the ring, connect over Bluetooth, or sync new ring data.
Does ExportVitals require an account?
No. ExportVitals does not require an ExportVitals account to import supported exports and view charts.
Can ExportVitals help if my phone is too old for the Oura app?
Partly. ExportVitals cannot install the Oura app on an unsupported phone, and it cannot replace the official mobile app for syncing.
Can ExportVitals replace Oura on the Web?
No. Oura on the Web is an official Oura service connected to your Oura account. ExportVitals is an unofficial local viewer for downloaded export files.
What should I do first: sync, export, or import into ExportVitals?
Use this order:
1. Sync your ring with the official Oura app on a supported phone.
2. Export your data through Oura’s official export tools.
3. Open ExportVitals.
4. Import the supported export ZIP locally.
5. Review your charts and trends in the browser.
